The Zettelkasten (German for “slip box”) is a powerful method for knowledge management and note-taking that focuses on the connections between ideas rather than just collecting them
The Three Types of Notes
| Note Type | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Fleeting Notes | Quick reminders or thoughts captured on the fly. These are processed and deleted within a day or two. |
| Literature Notes | Summaries of things you read or watch, written in your own words. Always include the bibliographic reference. |
| Permanent Notes | The final stage. These are the atomic ideas derived from your literature notes, fully integrated and linked into your slip box. |
