The Zettelkasten (German for “slip box”) is a powerful method for knowledge management and note-taking that focuses on the connections between ideas rather than just collecting them

The Three Types of Notes

Note TypePurpose
Fleeting NotesQuick reminders or thoughts captured on the fly. These are processed and deleted within a day or two.
Literature NotesSummaries of things you read or watch, written in your own words. Always include the bibliographic reference.
Permanent NotesThe final stage. These are the atomic ideas derived from your literature notes, fully integrated and linked into your slip box.
